Denver Zoo and Allergic Reaction

We spent three hours walking around at the Denver Zoo today. We had a great time. We took a lot of pictures. Lynda rode on the merry-go-round and the train at the zoo. Lynda's favorite animal at the zoo was the snow leopard. After the zoo we went back to the hotel to rest and Lynda needed a snack. Lynda peeled a banana for her and one for me and within 15 minutes her lips swelled and her face was red with hives. Off to NJ we went. We sent two hours there monitoring her reaction. They gave her some Benadryl so we will find out tomorrow how this will affect the rest of the allergy tests for this coming week.

is it possible that since she peeled the banana herself that the peel had come in contact with something she is allergic to???? hopefully it won't be a large set back.

Sean and Laurie,
I appologize that it's been so long. Jesse has been VERY bad for 3 weeks and this last week Aspen has erupted too! We're exhausted and our spirits are very down.

I was finally able to sit down and read all of your posts. I am estatic that Lynda is getting to try many new foods!! Sorry about the bananas though. Our fingers are crossed and we are praying for you every day. Bring us home some promising news...and HOPE.
Hugs to you all. Tell Lynda how brave we think she is.

Boy do we wish it was that simple. Due to where the reaction point was on her mouth and face leads the doctors to believe it was something she ingested. I guess bananas are out for now. We are still very excited about the other items she is still able to eat. She ate quite a bit of Lettuce this weekend! SOMETHING HEALTHY....

Tammy,

We are so sorry to hear you have had a rough few weeks. We know how hard those times are! We will definitely need to get together when we get back and share the info we got here. The big thing that has helped Lynda's eczema was to bath her 3 times a day, after each bath for the first 3 days goop topical steroids all over the body and seal with wet clothes for 2 hrs. Then apply aquaphor before the next bath. It will take a few days. The doctors also prescribed Lynda Chloral Hydrt 500mG/5ML to help sleeping and not scratching. Believe me this worked, they described it as a shot of Jack Daniels and Lynda slept hard. She only needed it a couple days and is now sleeping the night by herself. We will have a packet for you when we get home!

Sean, Laurie and Linda,
So glad to hear that you are having more successes than not. Hope the rest of the trip continues to be as successful. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
